Running Accomplishments:

I've been running on and off since I was 12, but only over the past few years have I begun to take my running more seriously. Some of my favorite running moments and events:

  • Running my first marathon on April 26, 2009 in Big Sur, Calif. I felt so great at the end, that I didn't want to stop. (4:24:39)
  • Running the inaugural Boston Marathon 5K a week before my marathon. (23:11)
  • Running three half marathons (so far): BAA Half in 2004 (1:45:38), BAA Half in 2008 (1:51:36) and Miami Half in 2009 (1:52:52).
  • Finishing any road race in the top 10-20 females in my age group.

Short-Term Running Goals:

My short-term running goals are to increase my mileage, increase my speed and qualify for Boston.

Long-Term Running Goals:

I hope to be running marathons well into my 90s!

Personal:

I'm engaged to marry the love of my life on June 27, 2009. If not for him, I'm not sure I would have challenged myself to complete my first marathon.

We also love to eat! Together we write a food blog at foodiechick.com, which I've neglected a bit since cutting a lot of fat and alcohol out of our diet. We'll just have to start writing about healthy dining options instead.

This was a fun run around Boston, though I ran into a lot of Sox fans making their way to the stadium. Once out of the fray, I ran along the esplanade and "raced" the cars crawling through traffic. Not much of a challenge but I'll take whatever wins I can get. :)

I did feel a little sluggish at first but I pushed through it and was fine the second half. I worked 11 hours at work today before the run, didn't drink enough water and didn't get enough sleep. I normally wouldn't have run on a day like this, but it makes me feel better. So I just left my work clothes and computer at the office, and ran out of there and all the way home.

I'm not sure if there's a way for me to calculate my pace on this site, though I'm sure there is... I'm still discovering all the tools on here.

This was a short run, but a good one. I didn't run very hard often when training for the marathon, so I want to ease into stronger, longer runs. I'd like to get used to running faster when I'm tired.

Also, looking at the photos of myself in the marathon, I think my stride is a little sloppy. It may just be some bad angles, or me overanalyzing, but it looks like my legs are strong going forward, but sort of flop back. I'm trying to keep in mind, so I follow through with my stride.

Ran around Needham while Mark was at the gym. (Not often I run anywhere but Boston/Brookline, so it was a nice change.) I actually intended to run from his gym to a track, but when I arrived at the high school where the track was, I found out the track wasn't. Guess soccer is a bigger deal in Needham, so they replaced the track with a nice new field. I used the morning to run around at a relaxed pace instead. Felt good, though my blisters from the marathon still bothered me. I have terrible feet.
